Knights’ McNaughton playing close to home with MJHL Blues

Ty McNaughton of the North Okanagan Knights has signed to play for the Winnipeg Blues in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for the 2022-23 season.

McNaughton began his junior career in the KIJHL with the Sicamous Eagles last season where he had a goal and five points in eight games before being traded to the Knights. Following the trade, the 6-0, 175-pound forward put up eight goals and 22 points in 25 games. In total, he had 27 points in 33 games.

“I’m super excited to continue my hockey journey with the Blues after a great season with the Knights,” said McNaughton, who is from Grande Point, Manitoba and will play less than 40 minutes from home. “I can’t thank the Knights organization enough for giving me the chance to play lots of minutes and develop my game for Junior A. They do an awesome job providing all the things a player would need to make that jump to a higher level as well as having great staff and outstanding billets.”

“We are very proud of Ty for taking the next step in his development and signing with the Blues,” said Knights Head Coach & GM Liam McOnie. “Ty is a high quality player and person with a bright future in both hockey and life.”
